you gotta remove the trans and it is the first thing you see inside the open end of the trans - a large round donut looking steel thing with a short shaft in the middle with a hole in it. You have to loosen three bolts that connect the torque conv to the flywheel it is easiest to loosen these three bolts through the hole left by removing the starter first
The torque converter doesn't have a drain plug on these vans.
from empty torque converter to full or from i drained tranny pan change filter and installed new gasket ?4 qts on filter replacement and about 10 on completely empty including torque converter.
