How do you remove the window crank on a ford escort?

There is a small horseshoe shaped clip that holds the window handle on the window regulator. It has to be removed. You can purchase a window handle clip removal tool, or you can make one yourself out of a coathanger. It would be easy to show you the shape if I could post a picture here, but no images are allowed on the site. It should look like an upside-down Capital "L" . The long part of the L should be about 5". At the end of the long part of the L, you should make a hook. The inside of the hook end should be about the same as the thickness of the coat hanger. Bigger than that and it won't fit between the window handle and door panel. Be careful when you pull it out, that clip has a tendency to pop off and disapear. To reinstall it, just center it on the window regulator and give it a sharp tap to set it in place. Good luck
