There is a sliding tab that secures it to the wiper motor drive axle.
1) Flip the arm up away from the windshield. Now ignore the part of the arm you have flipped up and look at the base. You will notice a the sliding metal lock, the bottom section has an open hole or loop, the top part of this lock will be a larger tab with a small lip on the opposite side projecting up towards the roof of the vehicle.
2) Take a flat head screwdriver and pry the lock on the small lip side. This should be done just by turning the screwdriver.
3) Once the section with the loop is no longer visible start wobbling the wiper arm while pulling up to remove it. It may have some dirt therefore it is necessary to wobble it a little to get it loose.
It is attached directly to the wiper motor.
