The 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee has the most common hook-end wiper arms on front and rear. See the Sources and Related Links section below for installation videos. Also, purchase the replacement blades first and there will be additional instructions/illustrations on the replacement packages. Locate and press the tab or button where the wiper blade is inserted into the hook of the wiper arm and pull wiper blade out of hook. You may have to rotate and flex the blade to make enough clearance for the hook to pass through.
Curiously, this is one maintenance item that isn't detailed in the owner's manual but should be. The good news is, it's a simple operation.
In the 'hook' where the wiper blade is attached to the arm is a latch. Once you find it you'll see which direction to depress the latch then simply slide the blade toward the 'base' of the arm (where it's attached to the car). Replacement is even simpler. Slide the replacement blade into the 'hook' and it'll lock in.
If the above doesn't work for you, most auto supply stores will have someone available to install blades when you purchase them at the store. Ask the installer to show you how it's done so you won't need the assist again.

Lift the arm up, press in the plastic tab on the bottom of the plastic connector where it meets the end of the arm, and slide the blade toward the base of the arm.
