I bought a new power circuit module from digitaldashrepairs on EBay for $29. Also bought low temp. soldering iron and silver solder from Radio Shack for $9. It took me all afternoon to remove and disassemble dash, unsolder old power module, solder new module onto the mother board, then reinstall everything. Now the digital dash on my 92 GMC Jimmy lights up like a Christmas tree.
digital cluster may need replaced
if its not working,
a 1992 Volvo 940 doesn't have a speedometer cable. the speedometer is controlled electronically.
If a 1992 Honda Civic's speedometer is erratic, the problem could be the speedometer cable. It could also be the speedometer sensor malfunctioning. Check both components carefully.
Broken speedometer cable.
possibly a broken internal gear in the speedometer head
there isn't one- equipped with an electric speedometer
at the tail of tranny
check fuses
speedometer--vehicle speed sensor is in trans near pass side axle
It's on the back of the transfer case. There is no speedometer cable - it's all electronic.
Either the Speedometer itself is bad or the speedometer cable is. either one isn't too difficult if you have pulled a dashboard out before.
