What would cause the heat not to work in 1998 Ford Contour Sport?

it could have a bad heater water control valve. the valve is controled by engine vacuum and the vacuum line to the water valve may have a leek or be broken In addition to the above it may have a thermostat stuck open, or a clogged heater core. Drain and flush the system, replace the thermostat, and install a 50/50 mix of anti-freeze and distilled water.

How do you repair the temperature control valve on a 1995 ford escort?

If you are talking about the thermostat which controls the temperature of the engine it can't be repaired. However, you can buy a new one and install it yourself. Just do this: 1. Locate the thermostat by finding the big top hose of the radiator. Follow it back to the engine and you'll find the water outlet housing. The thermostat is inside of this. just take the bolts out and lift it off. The thermostat is inside. Put a new 192 degree thermostat in and replace the water outlet housing. Make sure the tabs on the thermostat fit the tabs on the engine. Make sure the spring is pointed towards the engine.

What would cause overheating on a 1999 Lincoln Continental we replaced the Thermostat sensor unit and both Fan motors?

I removed the thermostat, removed the mechanism and put the framework back in. I know this not the best repair, but it works. I think I was getting an air pocket by the thermostat. Steam will not open a thermostat the thermostat has to be submerged in water. The car was taken to a Lincoln dealer several times. After spending several thousands dollars at the dealer mechanics and several independent repair shops I did my own repair by cannibalizing the thermostat. Since I did that repair the car never overheated again. This type of repair can cause hot and cold spots in the engine. We have put on ten thousand miles since my own repair. It might not be the most correct but at least we did not have to junk a car that had no other problems. Peter P. Addison,il

Where is the thermostat housing on 1991 jeep Comanche 6 cylinder?

The thermostat housing (water neck) is located on the front of the motor just below the valve cover. The top radiator hose should go to it.
