I tried to crank my Deville after having many successful cranks during the day. The electricity would b on, but the engine would not turn over. The message in the message center said, "Ignition disabled due to theft deterent system". Per instructions in manual, I waited three minutes and tried again. No success. Per instructions in manual, I tried another key. No success. Per instructions in manual, I checked the fuses under the hood near the air filter on driver side, fuses looked ok. Still no crank. Now what?
You can not bypass the theft deterrent on your Cadillac. This is a pass lock system in which the key is coded directly to the cylinder. If the theft deterrent has be intiated on your vehicle the best bet is to if you have the key is to disconnect the battery for atleast 10 minutes so the BCM resets and then reconnect the battery and use your key. The vehicle should start. If the ignition has been busted either replace the ignition or get a steering column with a key from a junkyard. Or you can wire the theft deterrent to ground and cause a resistance which might work. You can not bypass the theft deterrent on your Cadillac. It is improper to answer a question that would help a thief.
Passlock is an theft deterrent system introduced by GM in 1996, designed to prevent vehicle operation if the proper ignition key is not used to start the vehicle (passlock wasnt used in s-series until the '98 model). The Passlock Anti-Theft system involves resistor codes which are generated by resistors located in the ignition key cylinder switch.
i guess the auto theft system was activated
Either use the key fob to lock and unlock the doors or use the key to turn the ignition.
that depends on what is wrong have you checked the compressor?
Majority of the time the problem is in the ignition key chip or ignition lock cylinder
First, disarm the theft deterrent system. Then you can power off and disconnect it.
The theft deterrent system will not work.
its the VATS security system telling the truck that it is being stolen.
