I found the answer on a different forum... If you take off the plastic around the steering column, you will see an orange wire coming from the shift lever going down under the steering column. It's really an orange sheath around 2 very thin white wires. This has a tendency of breaking and breaking the wire. I just spliced a new section of wire where it was broken, made it a little longer to ease the tension. Best practice would probably be to replace the whole wire but it works now and only took about 10 mins. Its just a toggle switch so there isn't any current going through it.
