You must have the correct tools for resetting the ignition timing at the end of the process. If you do not know how, don't start!

  • Remove distributor cap
  • Mark rotor orientation so you can line it back up.
  • Unplug the wiring
  • Undo the clamp bolt and remove the clamp and bolt
  • Pull the distributor out of the block. Try to do this very slow.
  • Shove the new one in the hole using the rotor to orient it correctly.
  • Make sure the distributor bottoms in the hole, do not force hit or clamp in! Fix the alignment problem !
  • Bolt and clamp loosely
  • Plug in
  • Install cap
  • Run and set timing
  • Tighten bolt to clamp in place.
