You must have the correct tools for resetting the ignition timing at the end of the process. If you do not know how, don't start!
- Remove distributor cap
- Mark rotor orientation so you can line it back up.
- Unplug the wiring
- Undo the clamp bolt and remove the clamp and bolt
- Pull the distributor out of the block. Try to do this very slow.
- Shove the new one in the hole using the rotor to orient it correctly.
- Make sure the distributor bottoms in the hole, do not force hit or clamp in! Fix the alignment problem !
- Bolt and clamp loosely
- Plug in
- Install cap
- Run and set timing
- Tighten bolt to clamp in place.
