Assuming you are asking about the HVAC blower motor, check the condition of the switch and the electrical connection at the switch. And, if the original resistor was burned out the cause is usually because of the blower motor drawing too much current. If so, replace the blower motor or you will burn out another resistor soon.
First locate the resistor, it should be under the hood, on the firewall, passenger side, near the blower motor. Unplug the electrical connection, remove the small screws holding it in place then wiggle the resistor out.
The resistor is located to the lower right of the blower motor. You will need to remove the battery to access it
The blower motor speed resistor is burned out. Keep in mind that in many cases the speed resistor burns out because the blower motor is failing and drawing to many amps. So if the new resistor burns out soon, next time replace the blower motor also.
The blower motor resistor on a 1997 Ford Taurus is typically located in the passenger side footwell, mounted to the HVAC housing. To replace it, first disconnect the battery, then remove the lower dash panel and any necessary components to access the resistor. Unplug the electrical connector and unscrew the resistor from its mounting position. Install the new resistor by reversing the removal steps and reconnecting the battery.
