How do you replace hood pad 1997 600 Mercedes?

You'll have to go to your local MB dealer to get a replacement pad. Pop the hood and cover the engine compartment with a tarp of some sort, its could get messy, depending on the condition of your hood. Just grab hold of the old hood pad from the sides, where it's tucked in and start yanking it off the hood. You'll probably end up with a bunch of pad bumps that remained glued to the hood. Take a very light solvent to remove as much of the old pad as possible. You want the surface to be smooth and clean and free from any oils because you'll be using an adhesive to secure the new pad. There's some great spray on glue, normally used by upholsterers. You can get this stuff in most auto parts stores. Spray on a light, first coat on the pad and let it set for a little while. Then, when the car hood is dry and clean, carefully spray the center of the hood...stay away from the edges because you'll get glue all over the paint.. Respray the pad and start from the back of the hood and one side edge to line it up. BY THE WAY...YOU'LL NEED AT LEAST ONE OTHER PERSON TO HELP YOU WITH THIS PROJECT...TRUST ME. Quickly, begin to lay the pad onto the hood...smooth it out as you go. If you lined the pad up correctly, it will be fine. Keep patting the hood down, making sure the adhesive is sticking...keep doing this until there are no air pockets, and the hood stays put on its own. BAM!....you're done....its really not hard to do this, its just awkward at times because its a big pad, and you;re working upside down for the most part.
