I popped mine out last week and pried the clock itself open and discovered that the two resistors on the right side both had broken connections with the circuit board. I put a dab of solder on the broken sides, and now the clock appears to work just fine.
The clock is easy to pop out of the upper console, a thin flathead screwdriver works well. Start at the bottom right corner and work your way around clockwise. Disconnect the clock from the power plug and take it somewhere else with good light to work on the clock.
The clock face also comes off easily, allowing access to the circuit board. Careful when you do this, the rubber buttons inside the clock like to fly out.
The two resistors on the right side were broken from the board, but only on the right side of the resistor. I heated up a small glob of solder and applied it to both, making a good contact. So far it's worked fine.
If you don't have access to a soldering iron, one of your friends who does can fix this in about 30 seconds.
