I own a 2003 Frontier - Changed the cabin filter last summer. - Very simple - Open the glove box compartment door. - Then remove the screws that are on each side of the box ( upper and lower as I remember - appox. 4 - 6 screws.) - After the screws are removed, the entire compartment with the door attached will come out as an assembly. - Once removed, you will see the edge of the black plastic filter frame in the duct which the air is forced into. - If you never had a filter installed originally, there is a black plastic trim edge which was installed to seal that opening - you need to pull that out and then the fiter can be slid into that slot. - The filter I purchased was an aftermarket brand, ( Wix ) and came in two pieces. - The Nissan brand filter may be a one piece filter. - With the two piece part, the two parts are connected together and slide into the slot.
The cabin filter was introduced to Nissan Frontier's in 2002.
I found the diagram by googleing courtesy Nissan parts and searching forthat part name in the interior parts.

I doubt that a 1993 model has a cabin filter. Go to a parts store and ask for one. If it has one they will sell it to you. Purolator cabin filters come with instructions.
The cabin air filter is located behind the glove compartment, you will have to unscrew 7 screws to remove it and to get access to the Cabin Micro-filters door. Nissan recommends to replace the micro-filters every year or every 15,000 miles.
The 1999 Nissan Maxima does not have a cabin air filter. It never came with one.
