I was able to change the starter on my 1989 Nissan pulsar, by first lifting the front of the car. Then I placed a jack under the passenger side of the engine. Then remove the bolt from the passenger side of the motor. Then jack the side of the engine till you can access the bolts on the starter. The bolts also serve as a mount for the transmission. There is one wire hookup. The stud on the starter is a light guage metal, and can be striped very easy. So be careful.

How to locate my starter in my Nissan bluebird engine
It's the motor in the headlamp assembly that raises and lowers your light when you turn them on and off.
It's kinda tricky. You have to loosen the bolts from under the hood, the bolts screw into the starter, not the motor. Then you have to pull the starter from underneath the car, and unplug the wiring harness.
Sometimes; if you operated the vehicle for some time with low voltage it could destroy your starter. Low voltage is the worst enemy of a starter motor.
