You can try unscrewing the gear lever case putting some oil in there and try to losen it. Additionally: FIRST Check to assure that brake lamps are working when the pedal is pressed. If not, replace the brake lamp fuse or repair the problem with the brake lamp switch. For Safety the brake lamp switch is tied into a shift lock on most modern autos preventing the auto being placed into gear unless the brakes are applied.

My 1995 Land Rover Discovery was stuck in "Park" because the brake light switch was faulty. Ordinarily, you must step on the brake to shift out of Park. If you depress the brake pedal and your tail-lights do not light up, it's likely because the switch is broken. The switch is located near the hinge of the brake pedal; underneath the steering column. Your local auto parts store should have a replacement; I bought two at $10 each... and keep the spare in the glove box in case this happens again.
