How do you replace a head gasket on your 1998 Nissan Pathfiner you have been told by two mechanics that this is the problem because of over heating?

Often people replace the head gasket before looking into the water pump first, every situation is unique of course, but just a suggestion, before spending lots of time (if you replace it your self) or lots of money (paying a mechanic to do it) check the water pump and or the radiator first as the water pump is know to go bad on pathfinder quite a bit.
