There is no short cut or fast way to do this. The dash has to come out to access the heater box and replace the core. So the steps in replacing the heater core are to disconnect the heater hoses, remove the dash, to access the heater core cover on the front of the heater case and replace the core. Reassembly is in the reverse order as disassembly. Fill the cooling system with new coolant, and burp the air form the cooling system. There is no short cut or fast way to do this. Replace the radiator cap and be sure the coolant reservoir is kept full to the line, it will bleed itself.
First make sure that the clamp is tight enough on the hose or that it's not defective or damaged
The big blue book said 3 hours to remove the heater core . I had to remove the dash and metal cage to get to the air box. It isn't possible to do from the bulk head or fire wall as some may call it.
It is inside the heater core box behind the dash assembly. The dash assembly must be removed to gain access.
The nipple next to the heater core hoses is the drain tube for the a/c . The antifreeze is coming from the heater core , that is leaking .
I had the same problem with my 97 galant. There was air in the heater core.
You will have to disconnect the liquid line and the accumulator from the evaporator tubes in order to remove the heater core.....
