The mega fuse for a Ford Taurus is in the fuse panel on the passenger side under the hood. It is a factory specific fuse and will have to come from a Ford dealer.
Where is mega fuse
Type your answer here... looking for the mega fuse box for alternator on a 1998 ford Expidition
There are 3 fuses involved in the charging circuit. #227 10A in the central junction box under left side of dash. #126 30A in the battery junction box on the front center of engine compartment. And the mega fuse 175A on the battery junction box.
in the under hood fuse pannel it is a 30 amp mega fuse I believe it is the forth one down on the passanger side of the fuse pannel
The Mega Fuse is located from the alternator to the back of the engine, under the air filter.
Check the 175 amp mega fuse on the front of the engine compartment fuse panel. Replace this if it is blown. Check for shorts to determine why the fuse is bad to begin with.
The mega fuse at the front of the under hood fuse block supplies power to the rear fuse block.
try checking the mega fuse if it is a ford,or for chevy, the inline fuse found by the alt and lastly the inline fuse on the fire wall for a mopar you may have a bad battery or it needs charging before you can use it unusual but happens could have been on the shelf too long
AnswerI have 2002 crew-cab the fuse panel is right below the streering column, they is 4 cap like screws just turn them 1/4 turnFuse diagram is at:http://www.frybrid.com/ford_02_fuses_wiring.pdfOk in your owners manual on about pages 204-210 there are detailed instructions and a diagram of what every fuse, mega fuse ,mini fuse and relay is and where its at on the truck.
Yes , there is a power distribution box in the engine compartment ( which is " live " and Ford recommends disconnecting the battery cables before doing any servicing on the power distribution box - which unfortunately can cause other problems at times ) also in the engine comparment is a mini fuse box , and also there are mega-fuses in the engine compartment
Doing a Mega fuse on my 96 contour tomorrow. will let you know where its located and the best way to extract it. as for the alternator if you can slide the engine right and pull off the tire that is going to be the easiest way. The engine doesn't need to be slid to change the alternator. 3 bolts secure the alt. best to use a swivel extension socket and many many extensions. you may need to pull the tie rod off to get the starter out. check the mega fuse first. its a cheap fix and if thats not the problem its better than wasting money on an alt.
