i just changed one on a 91 talon tsi 2.0 turbo awd today. i can answer that if it will help.
if you have the valve cover already off all you have to do is make sure your old one is completely off then put your new one on there the same way you took the old one off it can only go on one way and fit then put valve cover back one hook everything back up and your ready to go its a very easy job

the water pump is located under the timing belt cover. in order to replace it you need to remove the timing belt, i would recommend doing the timing belt while your in there too.
Heh, you take it to a shop. Oil is in there most likely because your valve cover gasket is bad. Been there...currently there. Betting it's in the first cylinder. Common problem, really.
