i just replaced the alternator on my 95' mb c280. it took longer than i expected, several hours actually but im no mechanic. you will need to remove your air filter box completley(the bottom half snaps in and out of place) Next you have to remove the fan shrouding (plastic housing around the fan) this comes out by removing 2 clips on either side of the top of shrouding. The shrouding needs to come apart farther to get it out, there are 4 slots which fit the shrouding together(youll just have to see how it comes apart don't worry its easy) then you will have to remove a hose that is right next to the alternator wich carries coolant. you will probably want to drain you radiator which i made the mistake of not doing. I don't know how to adjust the bel tensioner so i removed the pulley to the top right of the alternator which you will have to loosen or maybe remove . Remove the ground and field wire from the back of the alternator held by a nut . The alternator is taken off by removing 2 bolts that are directly on top and bottom drivers side. space is tight on the bottom bolt on the alternator it may be eaiser just to get underneath the car to remove it. BE SURE TO DISCONNECT THE BATTERY CABLES BEFORE STARTING!
