I would recomend getting a chiltons manual from your local auto parts store, so you will know the exact location of the door panel retainer clips, and screw locations, even the best mechanic will end up breaking a clip he didn't know was there. I would also highly recommened buying a (trim puller) from your parts store it should only cost a couple bucks and it will remove the plastic clips without breaking them as a screwdriver most likely would. In case the guy at the parts store is an idot, the trim puller or trim remover is usully found around where they sell screwdrivers and wrenches. It looks like a tiny spatula with a gove cut in the middle, the thin flat spatula slide under the door panel and the grove squeezes the two release tabs on the side of the door panel clips.

first take of the door panel. Next you will see the window regulator. The there is going to be 4 bolts or so that you are going to need to take off, after that unhook the window. Then pull the whole window regulator out and replace the whole thing

To remove the window regulator in your 2005 Dodge Stratus, you would need to remove the door panel, and then the water shield behind the door panel. Tape the window into the up position with tape, and then you can access all of the nuts and bolts to remove the window regulator. I have included a link below to an instuctional video that will show you how to do this on a 01-06 Dodge Stratus.

It's expensive but you have to buy a new window regulator. it's the whole assembly- the motor, cable and guide. it's pretty easy to change. even easier with someone to help hold the window.

on the 01, probably close enough to the same thing, remove the door panel, then you need the window about halfway down, there are two bolts that hold the window onto the regulator and two bolts on the bottom and two on the top of the regulator. it helps if someone can help hold the window, if not duct tape works pretty good.

The voltage regulator is located in the Single Board Engine Controller (SBEC or ECM). If you have to replace it, you have to replace the computer. The computer has the voltage regulator in it. The alternator gets feedback from the computer to produce more of less voltage.

Remove the door panel, just a couple of screws. unbolt the regulator from the window and push the window back to remove the studs from the regualtor holes. push the window all the way up and run a piece of tape from inside the glass around the top of the door and to the outside of the glass at the front and rear of the window. the regulator is bolted in with 4 bolts, two at the top and two at the rear. once unbolted, you'll have to cut the zip tie in order to rotate the two regulator run channels to manuevur them out of the door. just reverse the procedure to install. before you tighten the regulator all the way, bolt the window up and pull up and back on the upper back corner of the window to prevent any wind leaks

Most likely the guide on the bottom of the regulator broke. take the door apart and check. most likely, you need a new window regulator.

The voltage regulator is not in the alternator. The engine computer is the voltage regulator on a 1996 Dodge Dakota.
