The ignition module in a 1985 Chevy Celebrity it located in the distributor. To change the ignition module:
1. Disconnect the ground terminal on the battery. Wear gloves to avoid getting acid on your skin.
2, Remove the distributor cap and place it out of the way. If you pull any spark plug wires make note of where they go so they can be put back.
3. Carefully unlatch the electrical plugs and remove them. The latches are old and brittle, be careful not to break them off. Take note of which one goes where to be able to put them back.
4. The ignition module is held in with two screws, remove them and lift off the module.
Use fresh dielectric grease on the replacement module. Coat the bottom of the with a generous amount of dielectric grease. This acts as a heat sink and will greatly improve the life of the module.
Reverse the procedure to install the replacement ignition module.
if u a talking about a control module it is under the distrubitor cap and is held in place with 2 screws If it is a distributorless engine such as the 3.1L, the module is underneath the coil packs. There are 3 of them mounted towards the front of the engine. Follow the spark plug wires. They are two bolts on each coil pack.
