Go to a U-Pick junk yard and practice on the cars there until you get it right. Then buy the best of the locks you fiddled with.
replace ign sw on 1991 volvo 240
My friend has a 1982 Volvo Station Wagon 240 GL that needs headlights replaced, what is the best way to go about this and about how much will it cost?
Located inside the hazard switch.
Most major parts houses would have the ignition switch. Any year between 1991 and 1996 will fit it.
The switch is under the center console, screws are on the sides, at the base of the shifter handle. Try using CNC Contact cleaner and adjusting the switch position before replacing.
check the switch at the top of the brake peddle.
You'd be thinking of a Volvo station wagon.
1. Remove the steering wheel and the upper and lower steering column covers. 2. Take the connectors off the multi-function switch and remove it with the screw that hold it to the steering column. 3. Disconnect the ignition switch electrical connectors. 4. Remove the switch mounting screws and take the switch off. 5. Installation is the reverse.
You need to replace it. There are 2 screws that hold it on.
Things to check are: ignition switch, manual lever position switch, ignition relay, your starter, and last, your battery. Check all wires, cables and connections for condition and cleanliness.
Check the bulbs, check the fuse, check the brake light switch, in that order.
The light in the switch can not be changed, the whole switch would need to be replaced.
