It's behind the glove box according to my Chilton manual. I'm not sure if the dash has to be removed, but the condenser does if you have AC. So, the AC has to be discharged first. The dealer estimates 4 hours labor to replace the blower motor.
remove right side under dash panel remove blower cover unplug motor remove motor and blower regulator swap regulator on to new motor note all u need is a philpps head and a 15 and 25 torques
Defective Blower Motor Resistor Pack.
the blower motor should be either on the passenger firewall or in the passenger floorboard below the dash
If it works but not on all speeds or is almost making the car stall at idle if you turn the a/c on at a light Than its probably the fan motor resistor pack its $25-$30 at autozone and real easy and fast to replace.
If your fan control speed #1 stops working and then #2 stops working I believe it is the blower motor modual it is sometimes called blower motor resistor block. It is behind the fan motor , up under the passenger side of the dash and against the firewall. If you are looking underneath the dash, you will see a little black box in the position I described. It is being held in by 3 or 4 gold hex screws that are (I believe) .25'. Its not the fan motor control switch ....return that $165.00 part .....the blower motor modual is about $25 if you get it wholesale. These parts are usually not in stock and have to be imported from the Czech Republic, so order early.
Blower motor is located at front passenger foot well area. Remove passenger underdash panel. You will see lower part of climate control box. Their are four small Torx screws holding a cover panel to heater box ,remove this panel. You will clearly see blower motor and regulator , again held in with Torx screws. Remove screws and you have blower motor in your hands . I think all screws at Torx 25 .
this means that your blower motor resistor is out. it is located right behind the blower motor itself. its small with one connector piece with wires and one 6-pointed (star) screw. pretty easy to change out. the part costs $25
It is located under the glove box, way in the back of the passenger foot area. You'll need to remove 2 screws with a 7mm socket, and remove the plastic cover that covers the blower motor and another component box that I think controls the passenger airbag. After removing the plastic cover you'll need to side that passenger airbag module to the right so it pop off its mounting bracket and move it out of the way. That'll give a better veiw of the blower motor. I highly recommend you also remove the blower motor itself because the Blower Motor Resistor is located behind it. I think you'll need a 5mm or 5.5mm socket to remove the 3 screws that hold in place the blower motor and 2 more screws for the Blower Motor Resistor... It's a cramped location to work in but if you have all the tools and enough lighting then it shouldn't take more than 30-60 minutes to do. The Blower Motor Resistor costs about $19-$25. I bought mine from http://www.advanceautoparts.com . Good Luck! also use a 1/4" universal joint and a 3" extension on a 5.5 mm socket to get to the farthest screw. trust me it will make alot easier
Blower motor resistor...around $25 on eBay
Most likely the "low" speed section of the blower motor resistor is open. Unless you have the automatic A/C/heat control, the resistor will cost you 20 or 25 dollars.
The front blower motor for a 2005 Ford Freestar is located in behind the glove compartment. To gain access you need to completely drop down the glove compartment. You can do this by just pushing in on the tabs (upper location, rear glove box) that hold it in place. Then do the following: -Unplug wiring harness that sits directly in front of blower motor. (allows more room to remove part) -Unplug power supply to blower motor. -Remove 3 screws that hold the motor in place. Suggest you use a socket wrench with extension. That's pretty much it. You may have to move the blower motor around a bit in order to extract it, however it's not too difficult. Depending on your comfort level to perform this task, removal and installation should only take 25 to 45 minutes.
