Yes, you can replace cartridge on any Moen unit
Shut off supply and remove top of centre unit. Unscrew nut and pull cartridge out.
You can go to Moens website for directions. Instead of cleaning the cartridge, you can take it to a Plumbing or Hardware store and they will replace it for FREE. Moen cartridges are guaranteed for life and the stores CANNOT charge for them as they return them and get another one for free from Moen!!!

According to Moen, there is NO difference between the 1225 and 1225B cartridges. They used to come in different packaging but now even that is the same.

it depends on Where it is leaking from and who the manufacturer is. Moen will replace your cartridge and or faucet for free as they have a lifetime warranty. if it dripping Under the sink you could have a bad valve which means that the entire faucet will need replaced. if it is dripping from the spout it is most likely the cartridge which can be repaired or replaced without having to remove the entire faucet. contact the manufacturer.
if it is a single lever faucet the cartridge needs to be replaced. check the supply valve under the sink first,
See if the valve has integral stops. These will usually be between the cartridge and the inlets of the water. When you have the cartridge out, open each stop slowly to purge any sediment out. This will also tell you if there is water pressure to that point of the faucet. Don't stand directly in front of it and get soaked, I don't want you blaming me! lol
