Why is cold water being siphoned into hot water lines?

It may be caused by your faucets needing replacement cartridges, if your faucets are single valve type. Note: I learned of this several years ago working with the Moen technicians (they willingly helped diagnose the problem.) This may seem counter-intuitive but when a house is built the installers will choose one manufacturer for faucets, although many different styles, within the house. If they install a single handle type the seals on the faucet cartridges start to deteriorate and begin to "bleed" the hot water into the cold water lines and visa-versa. If you replace only one of the cartridges the problem will migrate to another faucet, within a short time. So I would suggest replacing all the cartridges at one time. Since I was in the trade buss. Moen actually paid for the replacement cartridges if I agreed to send all the old ones for study. (I doubt that Moen will do it for you.)

How do you make more water come out of the faucet?

By increasing the spout diameter and boring out the faucet seats as the 1/4" opening allows only a certain amount of volume

Why would the faucet in the bathroom only trickle after a water main break was repaired?

The break and repair events probably released debris into the pipe. These eventually get caught in the faucet valve and it may have to be disassembled to remove them. check the areator

Why does only cold water come out of a moen faucet?

It's probably not the faucet. It could be that there's an obstruction in the hot water side of the fixture, but it's more likely that the hot water isn't getting to the fixture in the first place. The easiest thing to check is that the hot water valve at the wall under the sink is on.

Can a single handled faucet with a hot and cold mix be used for a cold water faucet only?

Yes. If you can attach a y to your cold water line, split it and run cold into both cold and hot Hopkins on the faucet.Yes , by blocking off the supply to the H/W side of the faucet and only connecting the C/W UNLESS it is a temperature or pressure balance type.

Do you use the water heater when you use just cold water?

If water is only drawn from the cold faucet, then no, the water heater is not involved. However, if water is drawn from the hot faucet- even for a few seconds- hot water IS withdrawn from the heater, and fresh cold water drawn in to be heated- even if the hot water did not make it all the way through the pipe to the faucet- and the water heater will work to heat that fresh cold water.

Why hot faucet water is not safe to drink?

Burn your tongue and throat is about the only issue. Hot faucet water is no different than cold water you heat on the stove or drink in your coffee.

What would cause cold water to pass through the hot water supply line behind a single handle moen bath and tub faucet affecting the water temperature?

This is a question that will drive the average DIY person crazy, but when you hear the answer it makes sense.... The single handle style Moens are great faucets, and I use and like them. If your builder used them throughout your home then this is what you do.... find your water heater and visualize the furthest away faucet (include all your sinks that have Moen faucets - utility/slop sinks, as well) start with the furthest sink and work your way back to the source, testing each faucet to see if it has the same problem. The ones that do will be the sink you work on first, the cartridge must be replaced on each, and here is why. The construction of the cartridges can partially fail allowing hot water to leak into the cold water lines and visa versa the problem is that since your house was built with all Moen faucets that if you only replace one cartridge you will "chase your tail" trying to fix the problem and they are all going to fail eventually. So consider replacing them all at the same time (I did! and Yes it does cost a lot) and the problem will go away. Sorry, but Good Luck! Douglas

Why does only hot water come out of the bath shower with the cold turned on?

First make sure that the hot and cold supply lines (the plumbing) aren't backwards (hot should be on the left as you are facing the faucet) or that someone accidentally ran two hot lines. For the problem to be in the faucet itself you would have to have a single handle faucet. If this is the case the control valve is broken and should be replaced. Three handle Left= Hot Water Flow. Right= Cold Water Flow Center= Controls whether the water comes out the shower head or tub faucet. Two handle Left= Hot Water Flow Right= Cold Water Flow (Diverter Valve is elsewhere if it's a tub/shower) Single handle One handle controls both water pressure and temperature

Where can you get a non-low flow shower faucet?

There is usually a flow restrictor in the faucet that can be removed. It should be in the center of the faucet where the hot and cold mix. As far as I know the government made it mandatory for manufacturer's to only produce low flow faucet's . Manufacture only, consumers can do what they want with them.

What would cause water oder from a well in only 1 cold water bathroom faucet?

I have had a problem like that and the reason for odor coming out of just one faucet was because they had another water line teed off of the faucet line that was capped/abandoned and the smell was coming from that line because after I disconnected the abandoned line, the smell went away so I don't know if you would have the same problem or not.

In kitchen why is water only coming out water spout and not main faucet?

Single and two handled faucets are different in the exact mechanism but the overall process is the same. Inside of the faucet there is a valve that diverts water from the main spout to the sprayer. Squeezing the sprayer handle opens its valve, releases pressure in the faucet, and diverts water to the sprayer. It sounds like this internal valve is jammed or broken.Call the manufacturer. I had this problem in the kitchen and Moen (the maker) provided directions on how to fix it. They can also direct you to a source for the parts.Visit a plumbing supply store. If you go during the less busy times of the day (late morning before lunch for example) they will often take the time to work with you.Replace the faucet.

How do you change a mixing valve in a faucet?

mixing valve in a faucet: ok I will assume you are refering to a shower valve, that is the only faucet w/a mixing valve: shut off the hot and cold water. cut out valve or unsweat it. clean and flux new valve, pipe and fittings(if used) sweat in new valve
