Behind the Radio/ Heater Control, center console, mounted against the firewall. And yes, it's extremely difficult to replace. It involves basically tearing the entire dash board apart.
Remove the entire dash board, starting at the bottom. The control relays are on the lower right (passenger side).
In a 97-03, the bulbs are soldered into the circuit board of the heater controls. Remove the heater control assembly and disassemble it to the board. Desolder the bulbs and replace with new ones from either radio shack or corvetteradios.com. The bulbs are 12v but I don't know the wattage. CorvetteRadios has bulbs for the CD player as well which are similarly soldered into the circuit board on the face plate.
I went to the dealer, and I have been quoted $90.00 to replace the climate control nob light bulb. How do I get to the dash board to replace it?
The lights are soldered on the circuit board. You either have to purchase a new circuit board from the dealer(stupid!) or if you are handy with soldering, you can remove the bulb from the circuit board and replace with an aftermarket bulb.
Yes, an electrical base board heater can be classified as an appliance.
The heater core is located under the dash board, all you have to do is disconect the heater hoses then unbolt the consol and slide it back far enought to be able to unbole the heater core and slide it out. The install is just reversed from removal. Joe
Check air filter is clean , check control board for any diagnostic flash codes.
sounds like you need to replace the heater core
under the center of the dash board. Can't buy just the replacement heater core they only sell it in a new "improved" control box that costs $300.00 TO $400.00 NEW. We paid $45.00 to have the old one repaired, the repairman used epoxy he ordered from a radiator factory to repair it. As far as replacing it you better be ready to remove your dash board and empty your AC, (you have to remove the AC evaporation unit to replace the heater core). Took me 3 days to get it out (I work pretty slow) and a couple short days to put it all back together. Have Fun ! ,
