You will need a Socket Set with Wrench, a Lisle Dual Piston Brake Spreader ($40), a Hammer, a small chisel, some brake parts cleaner and some DOT 4 Brake Fluid. If you like your hands, use some Mechanix or some latex gloves. Of course you know that you need to have new pads and rotors, and new ABS sensors before beginning this job. You will need a socket wrench to remove the two pins holding the caliper and pads to the rotor. Remove the pins, and the caliper should slide off of the rotor. You may have to work at it a little to get the caliper off. WARNING: You must keep the caliper suspended after removal to prevent damage to the brake lines. Once the caliper is off, remove the two pins that are holding the brake pads in place. You will need a hammer and a chisel to knock the pins out. Once pins are removed, remove the brake pads and keep the caliper suspended until ready to install new brake pads. YOU MUST USE NEW ROTORS WHENEVER CHANGING YOUR BRAKE PADS. MERCEDES ROTORS CANNOT BE RESURFACED. THIS WILL CAUSE DAMAGE TO YOUR VEHICLE. Remove the rotor. If the rotor does not come right off, use the hammer to tap the rotor in the form of a star (1, 2, 3, 4, 5.) Tap the middle of the rotor with the hammer after doing so and try to remove rotor. Repeat until rotor is removed. Install new rotor. You will have to retract the pistons back into place using a Lisle Dual Piston Brake Spreader. This spreads the pistons back into place to put the new brake pads in. You cannot, and DO NOT try to spread the pistons unless the cap on your brake fluid reservoir is REMOVED. Place a towel over the brake fluid reservoir to catch the excess brake fluid, as spreading the pistons will cause you to push brake fluid back through the brake lines. You do not want to get brake fluid on any engine parts. Retract the pistons. Use brake pad lubricant to coat both the front and the back of the new brake pads to prevent squealing. Once pistons are retracted and brake pads are lubricated, insert new brake pads. Insert new ABS sensors. Ensure that new brake pads are snug in place and correctly placed. Slide pins back in to secure new brake pads. Slide caliper with new brake pads installed back over the brand new rotor. Use a can of brake parts cleaner (about 2 or 3 dollars) and spray new rotor and caliper entirely to clean it off. Allow about 30 seconds to dry and YOU HAVE JUST DONE A BRAKE JOB, MY MAN!!!
