A 2000 Grand Marquis does not have struts, it uses a conventional shock/spring type suspension.
Why not just ask how to perform brain surgery, and have someone type it in for you.....

(Licenced Technician) -- 1990 Mercury Grand Marquis does not use struts. It uses coil springs with separate shocks for the front and rear - except for some of the upscale trim Grand Marquis models, which run computer-controlled air suspension in the rear. Why are you wanting the "struts" changed? Are you having handling problems? Does the car sit low on one side? I have owned a 1991 Crown Vic and a 1989 Grand Marquis; front shocks are not really difficult (for me) to change; front coil springs are much more difficult. These cars were known for sometimes breaking coil springs. Unless you have a good solid garage floor, a couple of floor jacks, a complete set of line-up bars, and access to air tools, I would not recommend doing this job yourself. Hope this helps.

You will need to compress the 2002 Pontiac Grand Am strut spring with a spring compressor. Remove the top and bottom strut retaining bolts. Reverse the process to install the new strut.

Yes, most definitely. You must always replace struts and shocks in pairs. Replace one front shock or strut then you must replace both. Same for the rear.
It could be your front strut mounts need to be replaced. The rubber inside the strut mounts, wears out. You will hear the noise when u drive over bumps and uneven surfaces. my 2004 grand am se1 4 door ,with the 3.4 v6 engine and automatic transmission, needs the front strut mounts replaced.

The heater pipe is at the rear of the engine and the strut mounts are on each side of the engine compartment. These are not easy to repair and you need special tools and a front end alignment ' when you are through.
