First, locate the portion of the leather dust boot just below shifter knob. The boot is connected to the shifter by a lock ring that you can feel under the leather boot. Rotate the top of the leather boot about 45 degrees and push down. It takes a little muscle so be persistent. Now, you should be able to see the bare metal selector post connected to the shifter knob/handle. Now the fun part. Simply pull straight up with as much force as possible. Be patient and be careful to avoid hitting and damaging your rear view mirror when it does eventually pop off. Installation is simply the reverse. The new shifter handle will click into place when ample down force is applied. It is a very basic procedure requiring no tools and minimal skill.
