To check the bags, soapy water them and if you see bubbles then you know you have a leak.
No, they have an air suspension which means air bags.
suspention or dash air bags
There are two models of the Lincoln Mark VIII. The base or standard MARK VIII and the Mark VIII LSC. The LSC was introduced halfway through the 1995 model year, and continued to the end of the Mark VIII production. SRS refers to the SUPPLIMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM (air bags). This is why you may see the letters SRS on the panel above the glove box area and on the steering wheel horn pad.
yes,you can,but I personally think the ride quality suffers- just my opinion
there is a switch in the trunk on the left behind the door right next to the fuel shut off switch is
You can replace the bags. The down side to that is your suspension is old and the components are old and warn. What happens when you put new bags on the car they are fresh and the compression has to work extra hard to break in the air bags and pump up the stiffer bags. That's when everything goes out. I had a 1997 Town car and my rear bags went out. I bought a kit online. It took me 20 mins to install. Unplug the bags. They come right out then the springs go right in. Cheaper than new bags and still had an amazing ride. Better than the bags in my opinion. Heres a website to get them at. http://www.strutmasters.com/Lincoln-town-car-suspension-s/37.htm
If the dealer does it count on like $2,000, it's a fairly easy job that a DIY can do, basically 1 day taking your time. I have a set of the four air bags plus a compressor that I'd sell for like $200 plus shipping.
In the trunk, drivers side on the side panel.
First, you must know that the Lincoln Towncar does not have air shocks. Instead, it has air bags. What this means is that in place of steel springs your Lincoln has rubber cushions that are filled with air, known as air bags. Bag the air bags. Replace with a spring conversion kit. No more headaches!
