The manual says that you have to jack the car up and take off both front tires and then take of the serpentine belt and take out the coolant tank and reach threw the wheel well and undo the bolts and take off the heat shield if you have one and you also have to take the back exhuast manifold off to bring it down and out. But I have talked to some guys in the salvage yard and they said that if you jack up the car and put the body of the car on jack stands take both wheels of and then put a floor jack on the subframe and undo back bolts completely and loosen up the front bolts and then let the floor jack down it will give you enough acces to get the alternator out and put in the new one.
Simple, just replace your alternator..
You have to remove the passenger side wheel, and inner fenders, then the drive axle and heat shield, then you can get at it. From underneath.....sorry.
you can't you have to replace it!
Depends if it is the 3.1 or 3.4. I have a 3.4L and I let the dealer do it. The car had to be raised and the engine lowered since the alternator is located on the rear of the engine towards the bottom. See question regarding the 1995 Cutlass Supreme . Same applies unless you have the 3.4 version of engine.
No you can not put any Oldsmobile motor into a 1985 Cutlass Supreme. Each car has a motor that was designed specifically for that vehicle. So if you need to replace the motor in a 1985 Cutlass Supreme, you need to find the specific motor for that vehicle.
You can't, its done by the computer if you have a knock noise, replace the knock sensor. its locate on the back of the engine near the alternator.
replace the alternator if your system isn't charging.
you have to turn the pistons at the same time you push the pistons in
Remove serpentine belt, remove three bolts ,an 2 wires. The alternator will pull up off the motor to remove. Put new alternator in replace bolts, replace wires, an replace the serpentine belt..
If your battery was dead and you jumped it to get it started and the gauge shows your not charging you need to replace the alternator.
find the tensioner pulley to release the belt. there should be two bolts on the top (one in front, one in rear) and one on the bottom rear ( this one is very tricky to get to).
First, remove the thermostat housing. Then grab the thermostat by hand and remove it.
