I was looking at one of the Ford websites and it shows for the automatic transaxle ( transmission ) used with the 1.9 litre four cylinder engine in a 1991 Ford Escort : ( yes , Motorcraft FT-123 filter inside the transaxle pan )
remove transmission pan at right rear of transaxle, pull out old filter insert new one
Transaxle filter?? Does not have one. It does however have a transmission filter that is located inside the transmission.
i was told by the dealer on a 1993 civic there is no filter just change the fluid.
