All you need to do is remove one long troq srew at the top of the brake assembly, and the whole thing will swing down pop the old pads out, compress the piston and pop the new ones in and just slide the whole thing back together. After a few times it only takes about 5 minutes, including taking the tire off.

The only part that is needed to replace your 1997 Pontiac rear brakes is a break assembly kit. The brake assembly kit will have everything you need.

To replace the brakes, lift the car on a jack, remove the tire, brake shoe and old brake pad. Next put in the new brake pads, put the brake shoe and tire back on the car, and lower the car.

You will need to remove the tire and wheel from your 1998 Pontiac Grand Am. Remove the brake assembly spring from the brake pads. The brake pads will come off. Reverse the process to install the new brake pads.

Maintaining brakes on a vehicle is important for safety reasons. One must raise the car, remove the tire, the old brake pad, replace it with a new brake pad, make sure everything is where it needs to be, and then replace the tire.
