NOTE: If your vehicle has an anti-theft radio make sure you have the radio re-activation code BEFORE you detach the battery cable! (1) Detach cable from negative post of battery (2) Remove distributor cap (and leak cover - if so equipped (3) Remove the screws that hold the wires to the primary terminals of the coil (4) Remove the 2 screws securing the coil and slide the old coil out. Installation is rhe reverse of removal.

Pretty sure the 97 Honda CRV doesn't have an EGR valve. I have a service manual for the 97 and it's nowhere to be found. I think some Civics didn't have one either.

The CKP looks like a small gear with long teeth located inside the distributor housing. If the CKP fails, unfortunately you must replace the entire distributor housing.

I have a 97, AWD first year they made them. We get 26-29 highway. If you drive like a moron or don't maintain your car it will be much worse.
You cant replace it, it's all in one piece.
Torque to 20ft/lbs initially. Then tighten to 65ft.lbs. Oil head bolts before installing.

Inside the distributor cap. 3 screwes hold it down. Remove them, pull off the dizzy cap and you will see the coil.
