How do you replace the dimmer switch on a 1996 Contour?
Why do 1996 Chevy lumina instrument panel lights and radio stock display go out when headlights go on?
Could installing an aftermarket radio on a 1996 Subaru Legacy be the cause of the dash lights interm wipers dimmer switch etc to stop working The fuses all check OK?
Usally not. The only link I see is that these are usually on the same fuse. Ohm check the fuse. Also check that the dimmer switch just isn't disconnected or turned off\down. -edit- Possibly - I installed an aftermarket stereo on my Subaru Loyale (1990) and had the same symptoms you described. To replace the wiper control switch in the 1996 Honda Civic, you must remove the steering wheel. With the wheel out of the way , remove the column covers and disconnect the electrical harness from the wiper switch. Remove respective screws and slide replacement switch into place. Replace respective screws, column cover and steering wheel.
Noises are impossible to correctly diagnoise unless you can hear them. I had the very same problem with my 1999 Pontiac Grand Am. I had to replace the signal switch. Although there could be several possibilities, the most probable is that the switch has become defective/worn out. If so, that's probably due to either an original defect in materials or assembly in manufacture, OR someone may have spilled liquid on and into the switch which caused corrosion on the contacts inside the switch.
