If the lighter is damaged not through abuse, it can be sent back to Zippo to be repaired free of charge. You do have to pay shipping charges. OR it depends on how its broke. you can replace the flint which is sold in most wallmarts or gas stations or you can replace the wick which you can usally find at the places i listed above.

Your zippo usually can't get another wick for replacement. The newer models can have a wick replaced, but you're better off buying a new one.

Send the Zippo to the factory for repairs. All you do is pay for shipping, the company has a lifetime repair guarantee.

open the lid, pull the lighter out of its casing, get the felt pad out of the way, pour some lighter fluid on the cotton, wait to let the cotton absorb it, and do it again once or twice (but don't overfill),place the felt pad back, put the lighter in the casing(with the spark wheel pointing away from the lid), and wash your hands because there could be lighter fluid on your hands. and now your zippo is ready to use

open up ur zippo, then you pull on the cage and the caseing of the zippo should come off (it might be stiff so put ur back into it). Then at the bottom they should be a soft foam with a screw at on side, lift the side of the foam without the screw in and it should fold over, then squirt your lighter fluid into the softer foam underneath the first bit of foam then put it all back together.

Turn the brass screw counter-clockwise until you can remove both screw and the spring which is attached - remove old flint and replace with a new flint and reverse the preceding instructions to reassemble .

The best thing to do is to send the lighter back to Zippo for repairs. The Zippo lighter is of course guaranteed and the company will make repairs and adjustments free. You pay shipping.

What are the components of a zippo?

There are not alot of parts on a zippo lighter which is why it is such a reliable lighter. the main components are the flint, chimeny, flint wheel, case, case insert, cotton balls, wick, cam (that's what makes the famous zippo cling), and felt pad. there are other littlle components such as pins and the hinge on the case as well. you can replace all of the following parts yourself: the wick and flint. if you have any other problems you can send your zippo to the zippo factory in pennsillvaina and they will either fix it or replace it free of charge. hope I helped

How do you get a Zippo to spark?

If you have not tried spinning the wheel on the Zippo try that. I know that seems obvious but someone might not know that. Or if you have tried that and it does not work then you need a flint for your Zippo. These are usually sold separately from the Zippo. Once you have the Zippo flint you can place it into the lighter by removing the Zippo from the case by grasping the chimney (the thing with holes in it once you open the lighter) and the case and pulling them in opposite directions. Once the two pieces are separate, you look at the lighter's bottom, there should be a screw and some soft cloth. Unscrew the screw to replace the flint. after removing the screw and the spring, drop a flint in the hole while holding the lighter upside down, place the spring in the hole, then screw the screw back in.

What do you do if your Zippo lighter goes through the wash?

It should be fine if you take the insides out and let them dry properly. This might take a couple of days. Refill the lighter, replace the flint, and spark it up. If you can't make it light, you can always send it back to Zippo and they will make repairs to the mechanism.

How do you replace the packing material in your Zippo if it gets lost?

Standard cotton balls. 5 for full sized, 4 for slim. Alternately you can keep an eye on eBay, I've seen Zippo branded packaging material on there OR send the lighter back to Zippo, they'll fix it up and return it to you with both your old and a new insert complete with new wick, flint, and packing.

Can you take lighter fluid from one lighter and put it in a zippo?

im not sure if you mean taking the fluid from a regular lighter and putting that into a zippo or just simply zippo to zippo but I'll answer both. I wouldn't recomend putting normal butane lighter fluid into a zippo because it runs out really fast and makes the flame far too big to be practical. if you want to change fuel from one zippo to another simply remove the insert, peel back the first felt layer, take out the cotton from inside and putting that cotton into the other zippo. hope that helped :)

How do you spot a fake zippo lighter fluid?
