How do you replace the fuel filter located on a 1984 Oldsmobile Toronado?

The fuel filter is located on the carb, right where the fuel line goes in. There is a larger cylindrical section that juts out of the front left of the carb (if your standing in front of the car facing the engine). You'll need a 1 inch and a 1 & 1/8 to remove the cylinder but first you will need to remove the fuel line from it - so place the wrench on the section closest to the fuel line and the other wrench on the fuel line end and try to loosen the fuel line while holding the cylindrical housing in place. Keep a close eye on the fuel line itself, if it is seized to the fitting you could twist the fuel line as you loosen the fitting. If it seems seized, use some WD40 or other anti seize lubricant but keep an eye on the line and try again. Once off, wove the line over a half inch and now use the two bigger wrenches to take off the cylindrical housing - be careful when you take it off - the filter is inside and there is also a spring. Replace the filter in exactly the same way since there is a right side and wrong side that goes into the housing. Put the housing back onto the carb and after it is tight you can then replace the fuel line but make sure you do not strip the fitting with an improper sized wrench. Start the car, check for leaks and if it is leaking, gently retighten the fitting.
