I don't know how but i have been told that replacing the fuel filter on any 4 runner is a difficult job. You should buy the Chilton's or Hynes repair manuels for your make/ model and year vehicle. They are very detailed on how to fix or replace just about anything. Good luck.
Answer: It's pretty easy. The fuel filter is attached to the left frame rail, underneath the driver's seat. It is readily visible when you crawl under the vehicle. Just follow the fuel line from the gas tank. Standard hand tools and flare nut wrenches will do the job. Make sure to adequately torque the fittings on the new fuel filter or it will leak. Double check for leaks.
I replace it every other oil change
