For carbureted models: Usually the fuel filter is located inside the fuel line going into carb. You must remove fuel line to get to filer. Unscrew filter hosing replce with new filter and spring..
For fuel injected models: Usually the filter is in the fuel line on the bottom side of the car either along the driver's side pinch weld or somewhere along the sides of the fuel tank.
