There is a small spring-loaded button on the top of the headlight switch. You'll see the button on your new switch. Press the button while rotating & pulling on the knob and it will slide out. The trick is, it's impossible to reach the headlight switch from underneath the dashboard. I removed the screws holding the fuse block, then pushed the fuse block in toward the front of the car, giving me room to get my hand in to reach the switch and the button.
Remove the dash bezel by removing the four screws from the top underside of the dashboard.
If you pull the old switch out of the wiring connector, you'll probably see at least one of the slots is melted and/or burned. You'll need to replace the wiring connector. Here's a hint: rather than snipping and splicing in the new wiring connector, use a small flat screwdriver blade to remove the wires from the old connector, then snap them into the new connector. You'll probably have to cut & splice the wire from the burned slot, but the rest should be usable in the new connector block.
The whole job took about 2 1/2 hours from beginning to end.
You cannot replace the headlight bulb. You need to buy a new headlight unit.
If you cannot reach the adjustment screws, you're only alternative for headlight aiming is to change tire pressure. Deflate the front tires to lower the headlights, deflate the rear tires to raise the headlights.
from what i understand you cannot as the phase 2 headlight is 1 unit and the phase 1 headlight is in 2 parts and im not to sure but i think its also a different shape.
93 Chev S-10 Pickup Replace Headlight(NON expert -( shade tree mechanic my 1st attempt, and it went nice & smooth)Lift the hood. Turn off Headlights (duh Unplug wire from engine side of headlightFrom the front of the headlight, remove two screws at the BOTTOM of the 'retainer frame' (my term) that holds the headlight unit in. Take care not to drop the screws. The retainer may or may not keep them with the retainer frame.Remove NO screws at the side. Gently pry rotate bottom of frame up till bulb unit can be pulled forward. I 'think the retainer frame will come out also - cannot recall. Basically it latches from the top, and is fastened, by two screws, at the bottom.Replace bulb, replace retainer frame (top first, then screws at bottom), replace plug at rear of bulb unit.
cannot get fingers or hands in to remove replace headlight bulbs do i need to remove other parts to do this on a 1998 Honda civic?
You cannot replace just the cover. You must replace the entire assembly as it is one piece. The cost for an replacement is around $80 for a aftermarket replacement. A used OEM headlight assembly will cost you around $200. A brand new OEM headlight assembly will cost you from $175 to $250 depending on body style.
Have someone with smaller hands to do it for you.
You don't remove it per se, it is a complete housing that needs to be replaced. If yours are cloudy/foggy, look into some of the headlight restoration kits. If you have about an hour and $20, you can clean them up yourself. They will look better, and more importantly, you will see better at night.
Can only be turned on when headlights are on, turn headlight switch all he way to the right and pullout switch.
You cannot change the bulb you have to change the whole headlight. Which is actually cheaper than you think. It cost me 11.97 for 1 headlight. Saturn calls it a Sealed Beam 2e1 headlight. So to change this all you need is a torx head screwdriver to remove the old headlight and install the new one. The only dissapointment is there is no way to change the bulb, i wanted to make it a blue tinted color but of you try to break the seal... the headlight will not function properly.
You cannot remove the moisture for the long term as the sealed beam seal has failed and moisture will continue to appear later. Usually a heat gun could be used to heat up the glass, careful not to melt any nearby plastic parts. Best bet is to replace the headlight.
in 1986 the headlights weren't fused the likely suspect would be the dimmer switch if it was located on the floor.
