if the key has a grey head.. the vehicle is equiped with the imobilizer security key... you might be able to get the key from a locksmth and have the key cut,,,But you will have to still program that key to the vehicle's security system.. to do so you YOU WILL NEED 2 WORK'N KEYS THAT WORK IN THE VEHICLE.. to program you start with the first work'n key and start the vehicle wait til the security light turns off then repeat with the second work'n key, then take the new key and do the same thing.... you have limited time to do this.. so as soon as you take one out make you you have the next key in with in 5-10 secs... your owners manual should also have programing in i.

You do not need a key to replace the ignition switch.
To replace a broken key in a 91 Subaru ignition, you will need to contact a locksmith. The locksmith can cut a key to match your ignition.

If it is the ignition key, then you will be making a trip to the dealership, so that they can program a new key for you. That key should be chipped so a regular cut key will not work.

You will more than likely have to get a new ignition and key for it.
I had same problem with my 2002 liberty. It was the park sensor. I had to turn on the key and put it in neutral then back to park to get the key out (might have to do it a couple of times). Once I did that I could get the key out. Then I had to remove the center console cover and found that the park sensor was loose. I tightened it up and haven't had a problem since. Hope this helps!
