Purchase a Haynes or Chilton manual which will give all the major steps regarding the removal of the intake manifold to replace the gaskets. Do not forget to relieve the fuel pressure prior to beginning.
I just did this job yesterday on my 2005. I found it was much easier when the electric cooling fans and the vertical member where the hood latch mounts were removed opening up the front end of the engine. There are 7 bolts on the top side, with two long bolts going through the throttle body end of the intake, as well as one at the bottom of the intake by the oil filter/cooler. There is also a T-30 screw that holds on the dip stick tube. Once everything is removed, including vacuum lines, (be sure to take a picture if possible from various angles before you start and keep track of all fasteners), be careful not to pull too hard as the PCV Valve is connected to the bottom of the intake via a rubber hose. This is the best time to service the PCV system if needed as you have to remove the intake to do so.
Finally, purchase the replacement gasket kit that has 4 intake gaskets and one EGR tube gasket. You can see the gaskets needed at Fordparts.com. Just type in your Year, Model, and engine then search for intake manifold. Be sure to look at the correct manifold for gas or gas/hybrid. It comes apart slowly but goes together in half the time...at least that is what found. Remember to clean the head where the intake mounts and do not allow anything to fall into the injector ports or intake openings.
This is a good 8 hr project that might be best split over two days if possible. Not difficult for someone who is handy. Mostly M10-M8 fasteners btw.
Good luck.
Bend over the mechanics counter.
Between the intake manifold and the cylinder head.
Remove the manifold and change the gasket. And voila!!!
No. which manifold gasket are you wanting to replace? Intake or exhaust?
Replace gasket why does gasket keep sliding
Yes, you must install a new intake manifold gasket.
The gasket is between the head and the manifold and simply remove the bolts and replace the gasket after cleaning it real good.
The head gasket on a 2004 Kia Rio is replaced by draining the coolant, removing the intake manifold, and unbolting the cylinder heads. The head and gasket can then be removed and a new gasket put in place.
The head gasket on a 1999 Chevy Malibu is replaced by removing the coolant, intake manifold, and retaining bolts. The cylinder head can then be removed, the gasket replaced, and everything reassembled.
You have to replace the gasket because when you take the manifold off it brakes the seel and air will be sucked into the manifold and your vehicle will hardly run, and you wont be able to drive it You have to replace the gasket because when you take the manifold off it brakes the seel and air will be sucked into the manifold and your vehicle will hardly run, and you wont be able to drive it
No.
unbolt the head pipe then the manifold.
