You have to drop the oil pan and that means raising or removing the engine. To raise the engine you have to disconnect the motor mounts. Watch the radiator hoses in case they start to deflect too much, you may need to disconnect them too. Oil pumps are seldom the cause of low oil pressure problems. It's usually caused by worn bearings. Usually you can solve a low oil pressure problem by just changing to a heavier grade oil. Switch from 5W15 to 10w30 or maybe even a 15W50 before you tear into the engine.

A 2006 Chevy Silverado came with either a 4.8, 5.3 or the 6.0 and the oil pump on these engines are located at the bottom of the engine inside the oil pan.

Ford is the only one that had the Inertia switch. Chevy did not use them. You need to check fuel pump relay and fuel pump fuse.
