Most of the lighting on the rear of the Geo is housed inside the rear lense assembly. By removing the series of Phillips head screws that holdl the lense in place, you should be able to remove the lense and thereby access the lamps.

Use a very thin flathead screw driver and pop out the sides of the inner clear light assembly. They are on the sides. Once that is done, remove the light bulb and replace with a new bulb. It is one big peice that must be removed. If you open the trunk, look on the inside of the lid behind the license plate, and you will find a few nuts that once removed, will allow you to remove the entire rear facia panel that the license plate bolts to and which houses the "PONTIAC" lights.
