Im not sure there is a speedometer cable generally speaking speedometers have been electeonic for many years---phone and see if there a listing for your car but if there is a cable you have to reach behind the the spedo head in the dash ---release the clip or nut that holds it to the head then just pull it off---then go down to the transmission and release it from there and just pull it through the firewall

This is very common on the 1996 Ford Escort unfortunately. Basically the speedometer cable has to be re-greased or the speedometer has to be replaced with the older 80mph model.
