You take it to a shop and pay through the nose. The only way to get the old starter out is to take it apart inside the engine compartment and remove it piece by piece. The new starter then needs to be disassembled and placed inside the engine compartment piece by piece, reassembled and then bolted into place. This job is not difficult, but is very time consuming and frustrating due to the lack of space. If you have the time and inclination to try, it can be done, but for me it was more worth my time to take it to a shop (needed the vehicle to get to work).
The starter for the 1992 Isuzu Trooper was a little difficult to locate, honestly. One may find it on the driver's side of the motor, directly above the oil pan.
Ask a Mechanic or person who works on cars
From what I understand, you have to diconnect the exhaust system on the side that the starter motor is located on. To reassemble you have to replace the exhaust gasket with a new one. If you are replacing the starter, there is a GM starter that is a direct replacement for the Isuzu starter and costs quite a bit less.
No - it is not an interference engine.
I don't think they made 1982 Trooper. It probably is 1992. If so, you can use 1992 to 2002 Trooper or 1996 to 1999 Acura SLX wiper motor
It is behind the starter.
