Replace the rubber seal. You could seal with silicone but you would be unable to open it again.
rubber seal around the opening on the hood is loose and preventing the sunroof from moving down and sliding open.
You're best bet is to by a kit from ford. it will show you how to replace, and how to get at seal. not a hard job. just a few bolts to remove sun roof and seal. replacement is in reverse.
dont do it
Simple! There are only 4 bolts that hold the sunroof glass in place. Remove them from the inside and voila... the glass lifts right out! You can probably find a good one in a local junk yard for almost nothing.
Try seaking seal
anywhere from 3-5hrs. You have drop the transmission.
The sunroof on a Chevy Cavalier can often be repaired by replacing the outer seal. This prevents rain from leaking into the vehicle and causing additional problems.
Machine 7 or Just aircooled
If water gets in, then something is broken - you probably need to get the seal repaired. If you want to do it on the cheap and don't mind doing a little jerry-rigging, you could get some "weather stripping" (thick soft foam with adhesive backing, meant for putting around the frame of doors on houses), and use that to repair or replace the seal around the sunroof.
Replace the seals. Replacing the seals is useless, i did this and a few weeks later the water was back again!! So then i took out the whole sunroof assembly and used silicone (making sure not to block the drainage pipes that run down into the wheel arch) to completely seal the sunroof so it was airtight. 4 years on and it hasn't leaked one drop.
Type your answer here... The electric sunroof moves forward and backwards fine, in the last year it won't raise to seal against metal.
