I'm assuming that you're talking automatic transmission and that your 2001 has essentially the same arrangement as my 2000.
You start by opening the console lid. There are two plastic buttons at the front of the area that was covered by the lid. These buttons are caps that easily pry off to reveal Phillips head screws. Remove those screws and the panel that they held down. Once you get that out you have access to the hold-down for the panel in front of that which contains the offending light bulb. You lift the panel and access to the bulb is underneath.
So easy a cave man could do it.
