The 2.5 liter five cylinder engine in a 1998 Acura TL has a timing BELT In addition the belt MUST be replaced every 90,000 miles. This is an interference engine and as such if the belt breaks you will have serious engine damage. The water pump is also driven by the cam belt so you should replaced it at the same time you replace the cam belt.
